A magnificent New York breakfast table composed of the finest fiddleback mahogany and exhibiting masterful carving. The Pembroke table has one drawer with original brass ormolu pulls and a matching false drawer opposite. The scalloped edged top is supported by four reeded and turned columns that are themselves supported by four exquisitely detailed hairy paw feet. Beautiful blonde coloring and an ample size. The open plinth design is unique among New York Federal furniture and bodes attribution to some of the best shops of Federal America including Lannuier and Phyfe. New York, circa 1815.
