Early 19th Century Parcel Gilt Mahogany Classical Pier Mirror
A magnificent architectural neoclassical pier mirror of fine detailing and original finishes. A broad entablature with a dramatic gilded cavetto moulding covered in low relief acanthus leaves rises above a a cove mahogany veneered moulding below with gadrooned gilt detail. The finely modeled columnette pilasters with reeded shafts are surmounted by delicate Corinthian capitals. The bottom of the classical mirror includes deep plinths with gilded moulding and bases. The original mirror glazing with its pleasingly aged Mercury plating remain intact. France, c. 1825.
