19th Century French Charles X Ormolu and Bronze Chandelier with Five Lights
19th Century French Charles X Ormolu and Bronze Chandelier with Five Lights
A graceful Neoclassical light with elegant lines and sharp detailing. The beautifully drawn body of the chandelier supports an acanthus finial which sits on a band of gold lambs tongue. The five patinated bronze arms and their exquisitely modeled cups and bobeches extend from the body with intermittent rosettes. An acanthus medallion covers the underside of the light. A solid bronze corona bears the five rod supports which attach to each light. The candle sleeves have been outfitted with hand-dipped beeswax resin. Electrified for use in the United States. France c. 1835.
